Happy New Year all! It’s that time of the year when we look back at the good, the bad and the tragic (aka the movie Madame Web), of 2024.
A door flew open on an Alaskan Airlines flight WHILE IN THE AIR!!!
Larry David celebrated the end of Curb Your Enthusiasm by going Will Smith all over Elmo on The TODAY Show.
Tracey Chapman and Luke Combs did a duet of Fast Car at the Grammys, while Nolan, Cillian & Oppenheimer swept the Oscars.
The right went to war with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Him, because he won the Super Bowl, and her because... I don’t know her mere existence just seems to piss them off.
Actually this is a good place for me to take a moment and say that I am officially giving up talking about politics on the blog. This brutal election year that consisted of assassination attempts, a presidential debate staring Statler and Waldorf, Conspiracy Theories about drones invading, and Celebrity President Swap... I just can’t do it anymore.
NY had an earthquake and eclipse three days apart.
Bennifer ONCE AGAIN broke up which means no more taco flavored kisses.
Only Murders Season 4 was better than 3, but could’ve been better as a whole. However, Richard Kind makes everything better so that was a nice touch.
Some great documentaries this year;
STEVE! (Martin): A Documentary in 2 Parts
Jim Henson: Idea Man (lots of Muppet refences today)
Music by John Williams
Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story
We once again lost some greats – Norman Jewison, Carl Weathers, Alexei Navalny, Richard Lewis, Joe Flaherty, Dabney Coleman, Willie Mays, Donald Sutherland, Martin Mull, Shelly Duvall, Bob Newhart, John Amos, James Earl Jones, Dame Maggie Smith, Quincy Jones, Olivia Hussey & President Jimmy Carter.
As for me...
I went to see Steve Carell & Alfred Molina in Uncle Vanya on Broadway. The show was meh, but I was in the same room with Michael Scott & Doc Ock and you weren’t.
I got a new job working at my old Elementary School.
I saw some great old TV like The Night Of & A.P. Bio, and some great new tv like The Penguin, A Man on the Inside & John Mulaney Presents: Everybody's in L.A..
I was blown away by Wicked.
I also started hanging out with an awesome girl, so I can’t complain too much.
I did however fall off my bike, break my arm, and required surgery, but I’ll tell you more about that one in a future blog.
As for now, and as always I hope you all had a good year and I wish you another in 2025. Thanks for reading, and stick around because my debut play All That Matters is coming this July.
Until then, take it away Jim...
